Free Manure Management

Workshop

Legislation In the state of Pennsylvania has been passed that requires all animal operations that produce or use manure to have a written plan outlining how the manure is used, or disposed of.  The Washington County Conservation District will be holding workshops to help owners understand the regulations, and to write a plan for their operation.

A workshop will be held on April 26 from 9am to 2-pm and will be geared towards equine and other small operations.  Through these workshops we will help you create a manure management plan for your operations using the Manure Management Manual. This manual was created by the DEP, and when completed and followed, will help keep you in compliance with the state regulations. To be able to complete the plan during this time we ask that you bring a farm plan map. If you do not have a map we are available at the district to help you create one before the day of the workshop. Lunch, catered by a local restaurant, will be provided.  There will be a 15 person limit the workshop so please RSVP by  April 17, 2014 . Financial support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Through the Clean Water Fund.

All of the workshops are offered at no cost and will be held at the Washington County Conservation District Office. We are located at: 2800 N. Main St., suite 105 Washington, PA 15301. To RSVP, or with any other questions, please contact Stephen Gilkinson or Tom Ulrich at the office. We can be reached by phone at: 724-206-9446, or by email at: sgilkinson@pawccd.org for Stephen, and tulrich@pawccd.org for Tom. We are also always available to work with any operator, no matter what size. If you would like help creating a plan, or have questions about the regulations feel free to contact us here at the office any time. There is no cost for our assistance, and we are always happy to help.
